However, betting-wise it is an intriguing game and we have yet another example to make a profit betting on Superettan! My fans and I have won 5/7 last picks/bets in this league.  30 rounds will be played in the regular season in this league with a total of 16 clubs. The stakes here are sky-high as the last two teams will be relegated to the third tier for next season. The teams wh finish in 13th and 14th place will still have a chance to save themselves in the Relegation games at the end the season.. Both teams are having a disappointing season. I expect a nervous, physical and more low-scoring affair than the bookies do.. Last season Gefle finished in 9th place with 37 points. Östersund managed to grab 42 points. However, at the moment Östrsund are in 12th place with 27 points in their pocket.. Oddevold (13th place) have taken the same number of points.. Gefle are in 14th place with 24 points but their number of expected points (xPTS) is bigger!  Both Gefle and Östersund should have potential for at least some improvement.. For Gefle the biggest problem has been the surprisingly leaky defence. Indeed, the structure has not been great, the midfielders have not been active enough in defending and stupid defensive mistakes have been too frequent.. However, they have shown some improvement in defence in August and September.. Gefle have allowed 44 goals in this league but their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is still lower. The Östersund defence has been better – but not great! They have conceded 32 goals.. The Gefle offense, on the other hand, has been much better than Östersund's!  Indeed, the hosts have a better offensive structure than Östersund and have scored 32 goals – the visitors have netted the ball a very lame 24 times! It is hard to mention anything too positive about their offense..




I want to highlight that Östersund have been abysmal on the road this season! Indeed, they have won just one of the 11 away games in Superettan, scoring eight goals and allowing 19! They are often way too passive on the road.. This often results in too much pressure on their defence – late into the 2nd half at the latest.. Even so, by pure class Östersund are the better team here – but only by a quite thin margin. With the expected lineups, taking the substantial home advantage into account, Gefle deserve to be narrow favourites here. The bookies have made yet another mistake, offering Östersund odds of only around 2.25 to win. The Gefle +0.5 goals handicap is the obvious smart bet here! According to transfermarkt.com Östersund are the bigger team but only by a narrow margin. Indeed their players have an estimated market value of some 4.50 million euros. The Gefle squad is valued at about four million euros. Gefle have won only one of their last eight games, losing 5/8! In their last game they faced Sundsvall - a pretty limited team, currently in 15th place - at home and lost 1-2. Östersund were priced around 1.70-1.75 to win but both teams recorded four shots on goal. The hosts did record more goal attempts though. Before this they beat Helsingborg at home 1-0 but failed to impress me as a whole. Östersund were the favourites according to the bookies but either team could easily have won the game.. Indeed, the visitors recorded more goal attempts, shots on target, shots off goal and corner kicks. Östersund did record one more attack though -72-71. In round 21 Östersund did not have much of a chance to take points from Degerfors on the road. The hosts recorded 17 goal attempts and had many more shots on goal – 8-2 to be precise. Gefle have won three of their last five games. However, they have now lost two matches in a row. In their last game they were priced around 8.00-8.50 to beat Degerfors on the road and lost 0-1. The hosts deserved to win but Gefle's performance was not bad. Degerfors managed nine shots on goal – Gefle's number was five. Before this Gefle lost to Örgryte 2-3 at home as underdogs on the betting market. However, Gefle played okay as a whole, recording more attacks and dangerous attacks. The visitors did have three more goal attempts though – 15-12. In round 21 Gefle deservedly beat Skovde AIK 1-0 on the road. They recorded six shots on goal – allowing the hosts only three.
